Beautiful song, captured my spirit today. I join Damita in her prayer of praise.
Lord you are faithful your love never ends
You've proven to be an infallible friend
Your my protector you cover my soul
New mercies and grace you unfold
Ooh my soul's been anchored in your word alone
You are my creator can't stand on my own
I'm depending on you to direct me each day
I trust you so lord have your way
You are my refuge and you are my fortress
My God in you I will trust
Verse 2:
In you there is no doubt or nothing unfair
For you are the righteous one none can compare
I am persuaded your my everything
You are the soon coming king
Your my perfect sacrifice you fill my space
When I deserved death Lord you stood in my place
My greatest love of all yes that's who you are
I will follow wherever you are
You are my refuge and you are my fortress
My God in you I will trust (over and over)

Rich Mullins: An Arrow Pointing to Heaven
"The hardest part of being a Christian is surrendering and that is where the real struggle happens. Once we have overcome our own desire to be elevated, our own desire to be recognized, our own desire to be independent and all those things that we value so much because we are Americans and we are part of this American culture - once we have overcome that struggle then God can use us as a part of His body to accomplish what the body of Christ was left here to accomplish" - Rich Mullins
I have been reading Rich Mullin's biography, An Arrow Pointing to Heaven for the past year and I really have to read it in parts because it is so convicting. Rich was man we all know as the guy who wrote "Awesome God" and other popular Christian songs of the 90's, but he was so much more than a musician. He was a man who wrestled with his own desires and had a heart for God. His heart, passion, and conviction is so inspiring and ultimately convicting. Most of the time he is quoted in this book, I really have to think about he is saying because it is so raw and full of truth. He was not one that sugar coated his life and made it seem like he had it all figured. When he struggled with something (and he was always struggling with something) he faced it head on - with all of the emotions and discoveries.
If you are interested in getting a glimpse of a man's life, who really was devoted and passionately in love with Jesus - I would definitely recommend reading his biography. Of course the irony of this is, he probably would have hated to have a biography made by him.

In honor of Mother's Day
I recently read an amazing article about Mother's Day and our cultural definition of motherhood. Several take-aways for me include - mother's are real people. They are women with feelings, aspirations, and passions that may go beyond taking care of the family. They have talents and gifts given to them by God, and they must be honored. I am definitely guilty for not appreciating my mother for her uniqueness and talents. I'm not even sure I know much more about her than what she does and the amazing love and sacrifice she gives to her family on a daily basis. As a wife, I have realized the importance and the longing to be more than just the identity of "wife" - we are born to long to be known - we want to be known for more than our roles, and I am certain mother's do to.
So this mother's day (and my desire is to continue this throughout the remainder of our life), I honor my mother, not just for her motherhoodness, for all the great things she does as a mother, but also for the unique person she is, created in the image of God.

Inverted Palindrome
Incredible - watch it and read it, the entire way through for the entire thing. It is definitely worth it!
A palindrome reads the same backwards as forward. This video reads the exact opposite backwards as forward. Not only does it read the opposite, the meaning is the exact opposite..
This is only a 1 minute, 44 second video and it is brilliant. Make sure you read as well as listen ... forward and backward.
This is a video that was submitted in a contest by a 20-year old. The contest was titled "u @ 50" by AARP. This video won second place. When they showed it, everyone in the room was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause.
So simple and yet so brilliant.
